Your Dog's Photo Session: What to Expect (and How to Rock It)
So, you’ve booked a session (or you’re this close) and suddenly your brain is filled with questions like “What if my dog does zoomies the whole time?” or “Can I be in the photo, or is this strictly a furry-only feature?”
Friend, I’ve got you.
Here’s everything you’ve been wondering, answered.
How do I prepare for the session?
Think of it like a doggie playdate—but with a camera and fewer squirrels.
Here’s what to bring:
A non-retractable leash and collar (we’re going for "stylish control" over "flying spaghetti string"). Please leave harnesses and retractables at home or in the car.
Treats your dog would sell your soul for. I’ll have backup snacks, but nothing beats the power of their favorites.
Water for both of you—hydrated humans and pups are happy ones.
A towel for the ride home if there’s dirt or drool involved (there probably will be).
And wear something that makes you feel like your best self—bonus points if it doesn’t perfectly match your dog but still vibes together.
What if my dog doesn’t listen?
Let me tell you a secret: almost no one’s dog listens. At least, not for long.
I’ve photographed nervous pups, high-energy goofballs, and dogs who treat every blade of grass like breaking news—and they all end up looking like cover models. It’s completely normal for your dog to get distracted, need breaks, or pretend they’ve never heard the word “sit” in their life.
We’ll probably do the same thing a few times to get the shot, and there’ll be plenty of repositioning and creative treat-waving. I work with your dog’s personality, not against it—so whether they’re a “stay” superstar or a full-time explorer, we’ll make magic.

What if my dog can’t be off leash?
Leashes are welcome! I photograph plenty of leashed dogs, and with a little magic, the leash often disappears in the final images like it was never there. Your dog’s safety is the priority. I’ll work angles, backgrounds, and edits to keep things looking natural and gorgeous. I'll teach you the best way to hold the leash too!
Do you photograph animals other than dogs?
Yes! Cats, bunnies, birds, ferrets, pigs, lizards—I’ve met (and loved) them all. If they’re part of your family, I want to photograph them.
Can I be in the photo too?
Heck yes! You’re your dog’s whole world and capturing that connection is kind of my thing. Whether you want to be fully in the frame or just get some paw-holding, nose-booping moments, I’ll help you feel comfortable and look amazing—no modeling experience required.
Can I bring more than one dog?
Absolutely! Most sessions include up to two dogs from the same household, because I know it’s hard to choose favorites. If you have more than two, let’s chat—I’ll help you figure out the best way to get everyone photographed without it feeling like a canine circus (unless that’s the vibe you want, in which case… I’m intrigued).

What’s your turnaround time?
We'll plan to book your viewing session about three weeks after the photo session. There you will view the photos and pic your favorites. We'll take a look at what art work fits your lifestyle best too. You’ll always know what’s happening and when to expect the cuteness.
Still have questions?
No worries—just shoot me a message, send a carrier pigeon, or whisper into your dog’s ear and I’ll be in touch. (Okay fine, email works best.)
You’re in good paws here. Let’s make some magic.
